Sugarpill @#$%! And Bulletproof

Hello Angels,

Today I am going to review two more Sugarpill colors.  I bought them a while back.  The first one I bought from beauty lish with a Sugarpill palette I already reviewed earlier.  The color is @#$%!.  Lol, you read correctly.  It is a limited edition color that was available again this past July.  It is a true bright red shadow with subtle pearly finish.  This baby packs a punch and is not for those that want to play it safe.  It comes in a cute little case and with one touch gives you a lot of bang for your buck.

Here is a swatch on NW43 skin:

Now anyone that has been looking for the blackest black eye shadow should know about bulletproof from Sugarpill.  It is a true matte black eyeshadow with no blue tinge.  In my opinion it is the blackest color I have put in my eyes without using actual pigments.  It is a must have for those smoky looks.  If you purchase one eyeshadow from Sugarpill because you have enough shadows (gasp).  Bullet proof is the one to buy.

Take a look at it in the pan:

And finally, here's a swatch on NW43 skin.

That is a light swatch without primer to boot.
Bulletproof is available online as we speak at Sugarpillshop.com and beautylish.com. Be on the lookout for @#$%!.  I don't think we have seen the last of it.

Let me know what you think and if you decide to buy any of these colors. Till next time Angels....

Sequin Sneakers

Hi Angels!!

I wanted to share these Corse Como sequin covered sneakers I recently purchased from myhabit.com that I absolutely love. Yes, I am gearing up for fall, and being the fashionista that I am, I can't just wear any old sneakers!  These arrived to my door in less than 3 days, and were only $45, with free shipping to boot. I plan on wearing them with shorts for the remainder of the summer, while running errands, and with jeans as the days start to get cooler. They come in a variety of colors, gold, blue, and silver. I went with the Mariner Blue. Can't wait to start wearing them around town!

New!! MAC Indulge Collection!

Hello Angels.

This is just a quick post to let you know that MAC's Indulge collection is now on line to purchase.
Here's what MAC had to say about the two part collection:
Fall Colour is a surreal feast for the senses, where no taste is too extravagant
Eye and Cheek includes creme blushes, eye shadows, fluid lines and mascaras. Take a look at the promo pic.

Lip and Nail includes a magnificent banquet of colour for lips and nails.  This pic is full of rich color.

I have not seen this in stores but the mixture of colors and rich metallics look perfect for the fall.

If I pick anything up, I will be sure to share with you.  Take a look for yourselves on maccosmetics.com.

Sugarpill Sweetheart Palette

Hello Angels,

In this post I will be reviewing the Sweetheart Palette from Sugarpill.  I have reviewed the other two palettes here as well. This palette has colors that Nicki Minaj would wear during her Barbiex10 days.

Here is a pic of the palette.  As is customary with Sugarpill palettes it comes in a pretty pink case with a mirror inside.

From the top, left to right we have:
Dollipop- a matte bright pink fuchsia
After party- a bright matte cobalt
Midori- a matte bright Kelly green
Tako- a matte true white (one of the best in the biz)
Did I mention they were bright?  Lol

Here is a swatch on MAC NW43 skin:

These swatches are without primer and  the first swipe.  They are the perfect compliment to what you have in your stash.  Don't be afraid to try them and incorporate them into your eye looks.  You won't be sorry.

Buying these three palettes means you own all but one shadow from the brand.  You can't say that about many other brands.  Log on toSugarpillshop.com to order.  Shipping is now $6 for any order under $100.

Try them out and let me know what you think.

Sugar Pill/MAC Blue-green eyeshadow look pictorial/tutorial!!

Hello Angels,

Here's a look I did the other day when the weather finally cooled off!  You may have seen it on our instagram page (follow @drpurple81 for daily makeup, fashion and more!) and as promised here is the how-to step by step guide...

You like??  It's even more vivid in natural light.  Here's the makeup that you will need to complete this look:
Eyes:
Mac Prep + Prime eye in your shade
NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk
Sugarpill eyeshadow in Acidberry
MAC eyeshadow in Surf USA
Makeup Forever matte eyeshadow #60
MAC Chromographic pencil in High Def Cyan
MAC Eye Kohl eyeliner in Minted

Lips:
Nars Lip liner in Kenya
MAC lipstick in Peachstock

Cheeks:
MAC skinfinish in stereo rose
NARS blush in Torrid

(some pictured below)

 And now for the steps...

1.  Apply the MAC eyeshadow base all over from lash line to browbone

2.  Apply NYX shadow pencil in Milk, starting with the inner corner of the eyelid. Blend outwards with a concealer brush to a nice even finish.

3.  Apply Acidberry eyeshadow on the inner corner and blend outward towards the outer 1/3 of the eyelid.

4.  Apply Surf's up to the outer 1/3 of the lid, from the first lid crease towards the bottom of the brow bone.

5.  Apply MUFE eyeshadow #60 in the outer corner "v" and blend towards the middle.

6.  Finally you're ready to apply a light matte color to your highlight or brow bone area.  I am obsessed with MAC Bamboo for this purpose.  As long as it's matte it will suffice.

7.  Next comes your colored eyeliners.  These should coordinate with your eyeshadow colors.  First Minted from inner eye corner to halfway point of the lower eyelid:

Then apply High Def Cyan from the midine to the outer corner:

8.  Now you're ready for black eyeliner.  I use a liquid eyeliner made by L'Oreal-- Infallible in black.  It's an awesome felt tip eyeliner that is smooth and great for looks like this where you want a thick, dark and maybe winged line.  Also apply black kohl liner to your waterline or tightline.

9.  Last step is mascara, my fave.  I use Benefit They're Real to get length and volume out of every lash.  You've heard me talk about his mascara ad nauseum by now ;).

Hopefully yours looks a lot like this in daylight:

HAPPY PAINTING!!!!

Sugarpill Heartbreaker Palette Review and swatches!

Hello Angels,

I am back with another palette from Sugarpill.  I've been meaning to review it for a while.  Sugarpill is a brand that I have reviewed before with the Burning Heart Palette.  Their shades are fun, bright and true to color.  Today, I am reviewing the Heart Breaker Palette.

As with all the palettes, there is a cute case and mirror inside.

Here is the inside of palette with the vibrant shades from left to right
Acid berry- matte neon green with slight shimmer
Mochi- matte royal blue
2AM- matte lilac/purple
Velocity- matte sea foam green

Here's the swatches from left to right on NW43 skin with no primer:

Angels I like Sugarpill for those bright colors you find at other brands that lack a good POW!  No tugging, no layering.  Just full on color with every swipe.  If that is what you are looking for, get to their website and order.  The website is www.sugarpill.com.  Delivery is the super low flat rate of five dollars.  These palettes are in high demand so put your information in for them alert you if they are back ordered.  Let us know what you think!

Happy Hauling!!!

Pictorial: Stila Countless Color Pink and Purple Pigment Cut Crease Look!

Hello Angels,

As promised, a tutorial using my new favorite Stila Countless Color Pigments shade "Indie".
Here is the completed look:

For this eyeshadow look and face I used the items pictured here:
Face:
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 foundation in Soft Sable
MAC Mineralize skinfinish in Blonde
MAC Blush in Peony Petal

Eyes:
MAC paint pot in Groundwork
Stila Countless Color Pigment in Indie
Lancome color passport in Jet Set Shimmer
Wet 'n Wild gel eyeliner in Black
NYX eyeshadow in Blondie

Lips:
MAC lipstick in Creme de la Femme
MAC dazzleglass in Roman Holiday

Here is the final look:

So...  Here are the steps:

Start with Groundwork as a base applied evenly over entire lid:

Now we creat the cut crease by tracing black gel liner from outer eye corner across 3/4 of the lid, a couple of millimeters above your natural crease (where this is is slightly different for everyone).  Gently smudge this line upwards as pictured here:

Next step is blending the dark purple eyeshadow into your freshly cut crease and upward towards the brow bone.  Follow this by applying the NYX Blondie into the inner corner of the mobile lid:

Now you're ready to apply the Stila pigment!
Look closely at the shadow and you'll see that there is a lighter pink and a darker more fuschia pink.
Start with the lighter pink, blending from the inner 1/3 of the lid (where the yellow leaves off) towards the center of the lid.  Then transition to the darker pink from the center of the lid to the outer corner.

I used the light pink in the upper righthand corner of the Lancome palette for my highlight/browbone.
Now you blend blend blend!
It's now time to apply eyeliner....
Using an eyeliner brush and the Wet 'n Wild gel, start from the inner corner of your lid and create an extension or "wing" just past the outer corner.  For the lower eyelid, I used MAC Feline kohl for the waterline as well as heavily into the bottom lashes and smudged a little bit to add drama.
Follow this with mascara of your choice (I'm currently in love with anything by Benefit Cosmetics).
Please feel free to comment with any questions!

Happy Painting!!!
