Target Peter Pilotto collection launches today

As you may have already read in one of our previous blog posts Peter Pilotto has designed a collection for Targe. It launches today (February 9 th) in stores and on Net-a-Porter.com.  Most of the pieces are under $60.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York

We are so excited about the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that hit New York City this week, which go on until February 13th. We can't wait to see what designers have in store for us for Fall / Winter 2014. Here is the scene at Lincoln Center today that we wanted to share with you:

Zac Posen's Truly Zac Posen for David Bridal

Hello Angels,

If you've read our info, you'll know we love the world of Bridal.  In fact we have been instrumental in helping many brides create a custom look for their special day.  

I guess we are not alone in this for the darling of fashion is now designing bridal gowns.  That's right ladies, the man that has designed for Lena Dunham, Christina Hendricks and Rihanna now designs for you.  

On February 6th Truly Zac Posen will be available for all brides at David Bridal.  The sizes range from 0-26.  He has been known to style women with curves so this is not something new.  

“His new collection speaks to the beauty, grace and glamour that each woman deserves,” says Brian Beitler, a David’s Bridal Vice President tells the New York Daily News.  “Our consumers have been anxiously awaiting ... his standout designs.”

Aren't they pretty?  For those of us that can't afford a $10,000 gown this is a welcome alternative.

MAC A Fantasy of Flowers

Happy Snowday if you are in the tri state area.  While it is indeed a winter wonderland outside, our friends at MAC have given us a big dose of Spring in their latest collection.  On January 30th, MAC released A Fantasy of Flowers Collection.  There are two color stories for this collection.

I am definitely picking up Perfect Topping.  It will work beautifully with a good deal of my blushes.  That is about the only thing I can't dupe. Stereo Rose, I already have in my possession. 

If you are a beginner in the makeup game, this collection has a beautiful array of soft colors.  They can be incorporated into your daily looks.  It is a beautiful mixture of pastels with earth tones.  

The collection is available online at maccosmetics.com.  The purple fluidline has already sold out. It may be available at your local counter and stores.

SAG Award Show Fashions

Hello Angels,

Last week we were on pins and needles waiting to see the fashion at the SAG awards.  I know it wasn't just me!  Well it was not a dissapointment.  There were different styles that graced the red carpet.

I looked around for some dupes for prom and came pretty close.  

So let's get started:

Helen Mirren in Escada (ENews)

This lush black and gold number was the clear leader amongst the other dresses of the same color.

Our friends at Jovani have a dress in a similar color and pattern.  Here it is:

Oprah Winfrey looked Royal in this beautiful purple gown by Badgley Mischka.(Zen Magazine Africa)

The color and fit was a perfect  for the Talkshow Queen.  It is forgiving and flattering.

For this particular gown, my dupe from Jovani.com is a rich royal blue:

My second favorite dress of the night is Amy Adam's gown.  For lack of a better phrase,"that dress was smoking!"  The American Hustle star is wearing Antonio Berardi:

That design and color are just stunning.  She looked amazing!

I searched high and low for a dupe. The closest thing I found was on Jovani.com.

I think it would be a welcome suggestion for prom.  It is fun and feminine.

Urban Decay Naked lipglosses

Hi Angels,

I was just minding my makeup business yesterday and I received this news by email.

Apparently urban Decay is going Naked again.  This time it's for your lips.  That's right, we now have Urban Decay Baked Lipgloss. There are nine glosses that Urban Decay says are laced with benefits.  One of these has to be our shade, right?

With names like Beso, Liar and Walk of Shame to name a few we are bound to find something we like.  I will definitely be checking these out the next time I am at Sephora.  They are available at UrbanDecay.com and at Macy's well.  Release dates may differ.

Viva Glam Rihanna's Red, Fearless in Frost

Hi Angels,

If you're in the Northeast I have the remedy for the snowstorm!  Makeup therapy of course.  Hit the net and purchase RiRi's Viva Glam lipstick.  It's now available.

Here's what MAC has to say about the collabo:

Rihanna’s blue-red with frost finish in a lipstick.  There is also a lipgloss as well. Every Limited-edition, soft-touch red packaging features RiRi’s signature. 

And remember Angels every cent is donated to helping people living with HIV/AIDS.  So to us at the Pretty Prescription it's a win/win situation.  If Rihanna's past collections are an example, these pretties will sell out.

2014 Golden Globe dresses for less

Hi Angels 

If you are our friend on Facebook you saw us raving about some of the dresses the stars wore to the Golden Globes this past Sunday.  There were some hits and misses. Now we all know these gowns are couture and one of a kind pieces.  They are not what we wil find at our neighborhood Saks.

I decided to scour the net for someone's less expensive alternatives to the more memorable looks. Althought some are not exactly the same,they are in the same vain. Others are like rare pieces of art and  were not dupable in my opinion.  

Those undupable looks were:

What can you say about this other than, perfection?

The other showstopper with no ugly sister was Dame Helen Mirren's gown.

Glamorous and age appropriate without being dowdy.  She rarely gets it wrong.

Sharon and Kelly Osborne Collection with MAC

Hello Angels,

The web is abuzz about some pictures on Sharon and Kelly Osborne's Instagram and Twitter pages.  Seems the Mother/ daughter duo have been secretly working on a collection that is set to release this June.

This is an interesting choice and I am eager to see what the outspoken women have in store for us.

MAC Punk Couture Instigator

Hello Angels,

So the internet has been on fire for weeks in anticipation of the lipsticks in The MAC Punk Couture collection.  It finally debuted on the day after Christmas.  All of lipsticks  were matte in finish with some great dark colors in the mix.

I decided early on that I was going to get Punk Couture.  The swatches I saw online showed a matte blue/purple lipstick that I fell in love with.  Surely this was different from my other dark matte lipsticks?

I received it yesterday.  Even though it was pretty, on my lips it was not original.  And if my lips were not so dry from this blistering cold in the Northeast I would show you.

So unfortunately, at this time you will have to settle for a swatch.  If you have pigmented lips there is no distinct blue color.  It looks like a few other lipsticks I have in my stash.

Photographs like a dream!  Sigh the blue is lost on me.

That is not what I imagined and it is not very different from I have in my stash.

If you don't have these colors, then Punk Couture is a welcome addition.  If you do, use a different liner and you won't be able to tell the difference.  All in all I don't regret my purchase but I could have lived without it.  

This and the other lipsticks are sold out online and probably most counters.  You can try your luck an call around to MAC retailers to find one.  Always be on the lookout for a restock on maccosmetics.com.
