Lancome Rouge In Love Collection Picks, review and swatches

Hello Angels,

Back with some more makeup to share!  Shocking, I know.  I went to my local Sephora this weekend to try out some lipsticks that had flown under my personal usage radar.  I'm talking about the Lancome Rouge in Love 6 hour long wear luxury line of lipsticks released in June 2013 by a beloved luxury cosmetics line, Lancome.  Described by the company as "high potency" color, it is designed to have a lightweight feel and comes in 22 shades.  Here's a launch photo for the line featuring Emma Watson.

I'll admit.  I love Lancome mascara, eyeliner, blush and foundations but I've never thought very much of their lipsticks.  Until now!  After a friend of mine gushed about a shade from this line that she was just in loooove with, off to Sephora I went.

Here's their Rouge in Love display, pretty discreetly tucked away under a Teinte Visionnnaire display:

I tried all 16 of the shades at Sephora, so much that the back of my poor left hand started to feel raw!  But I do this for our followers in the name of beauty ;).  My 3 must have picks from this collection are the following:

1.  Shade 381 B Violette Coquette:  This went on like buttah!  All of them did actually.  And the color caused a small gasp to escape my lips, prompting the sales associate to ask me if I needed help.   No, no help needed.  Just this lipstick.  For all you MACnistas out there, it's like Heroine with shine, but shine that doesn't take away from its pigment.  It also reminds me of MAC Violetta without the iridescence.  If you couldn't care less about MAC, know that both of the aforementioned shades were limited edition and this is a very close dupe you can get for retail price that will flatter every skin tone.

2.  Shade 361M Pink Bon Bon:  Such a pretty, cool but bright pink!  This reminds me  of MAC Pink Nouveau but, with sheen that doesn't come from gloss layered over it.  I like that saved step for getting ready for work, and I like the idea of 6 hour wear with a color like this.  It's also a do for all skin tones.

3.  Last but not least, Shade 322M Corail in Love:  A lovely coral-infused light brown that makes for a nice neutral color.  I see this as a great every day lipstick, as well as one that pairs quite nicely with a brown smokey eye or gold eyeshadow.

They definitely wear with feather weight, no heavy or sticky feeling after hours of wear.  I would call them long lasting but not necessarily 6 retouch-free hours.  Especially after a meal.  That said, they are not drying like many long wear lipsticks so I'm willing to do touch-ups for that benefit.

I added these three beauties to my collection (as if I needed another lipstick ever) and I look forward to pairing them with neutral eyeshadows and my go-to winged eyeliner (for the violet and pink lippies) as a gorgeous pop of color that is still quite appropriate for the workplace.

Hope you enjoyed this brief tour of the collection and maybe even discovered one that you plan to snag for your collection!  Please share your thoughts and comments/questions!

Clinique Chubby Sticks Review and Swatches

Hello Angels,

Well as always we try to keep you informed on all that's buzzing in beauty and fashion.  Whilst at the nail salon the other day thumbing through a gossip rag (sorry, not sorry) I saw an ad for the amazing moisturizing power and potent color of the Clinique Intense chubby sticks.  Normally, I'm not into sheer lip color because for my money I want color payoffffff honey.  But because these claimed to be "intense" I thought I'd scoot over to my local Sephora and check it out for myself.

As you can see, I was able to find every color of the collection except "Heftiest Hibiscus" because it was totally sold out.  Perhaps this is telling of how great the color is.  I have pretty positive remarks for the rest of the colors, and here are my swatches (and please pardon the ashiness of my hands-- I only got a pedicure lol):

From the top:

Grandest Grape

Broadest Berry

Roomiest Rose

Mightiest Maraschino

Plushiest Punch

The last two colors:

From the top:

Curviest Caramel

Chunkiest Chili

So what did I get, you ask???

Since I only swatched and didn't wear yet, I limited myself to one...  Plushiest Punch.
Here's what it looks like on me:

I must say that I'm in love with the texture of this lip color.  It wears as easily as plain ol' vaseline and moisturizes as well.  It won't last through a big meal but it wore for hours on me without feathering.  I outlined my lip with the chubby stick and then filled in the lip with it as well.  The color is potent and true to the stick, with a modest but noticeable shine (a cross between a gloss and a lipstick).  It is flattering on me and so I will assert that it is flattering on all skin tones.   Sometimes the trade-off for gorgeous color is dryness (sorry but lip tar isn't a moisturizer).  Not with these babies!  Great for long work days so you won't have to always reapply.
Will it replace my favorite reddish pink lipsticks?  No.  But I will say that this little chubby stick has earned its own special place in my makeup collection.  Something I will wear on lighter makeup days, with BB cream, cream blush, a filled in brow, mascara, and this little pop of color to give that fresh faced, finished but not "done" look.

Hope you enjoyed your tour of the collection!  I'm going to add Grandest Grape to my collection as well.  What colors will you be getting?  Share your thoughts and comments!

Dark corners smokey eyeshadow look! Pictorial/Tutorial!

Hello Angels!

I'm back with another different smokey eyeshadow and coral lip look that is very wearable during the day and can carry right into night.  It's easy to create and I've outlined the products used and steps below with lots of pics.
The Look:

I used the products pictured below.
Eyes:  MAC paint pot in groundwork, MAC pigment in Tan, MAC pro longwear eyeshadow in legendary black, MAC eyeshadow in Arena, MAC black kohl eyeliner in Feline, Benefit They're Real mascara.
Lips:  Beet lip liner (thick line), Vegas Volt lipstick

Groundwork as the base, all over the mobile lid to just above the crease

Feline pencil in the inner and outer corners of the eye, blend in to soften the effect towards middle of the eye
Legendary Black eyeshadow in the inner and outer corners of the eye over the feline pencil.  Blend well to really soften the edges of the Feline pencil towards the middle of the eye, making sure the color doesn't stray far above the eyelid crease.

Using a SMALL amount of Tan pigment (only need a crumb or two!!), apply to the center of the eyelid from lash line straight up to the brow bone at the highest point of your arch.  On the lid, blend this pigment outwards towards the dark corners.  In the brow highlight, dip your brush into Arena shadow and use this to blend blend blend the Tan pigment across the brow highlight area.

Now take a clean shadow brush and blend blend blend!!  Make sure you have no harsh color lines.  You want each of the colors to flow into each other seamlessly.
Next, add black eyeliner to the lower eyelid and smudge into the lower lash line.  Follow with black eyeliner to upper eyelid and at least two coats of mascara to upper and lower lashes.

Finito!  You are ready to serrrrrve.... Face that is!

HAPPY PAINTING!!!

Kardashian Khroma Collection Review

Hello Angels,
I am back with another post. Now if you are like most lipsticknistas, you were hunting along with the rest of us for the lipsticks the Kardashian girls were wearing on the season finale. After looking everywhere for the illusive white tube I stumbled upon the collection at my neighborhood CVS. I then googled the collection and found the color Khloe was wearing. The lipsticks are the Khroma Joystick lip lacquer. The color is Shocking Pink. I picked it up along with two others.

The Kardashian girls are makeupnistas so I was prepared to take no prisoners. I have to say for the eight dollar price they are quite good. It is not a drying formula and the color is true to the tube. I did expect Shocking Pink to be darker but it was nothing MAC Currant lip pencil couldn't fix. I would have loved it if the finish was matte. I would compare them to MAC's amplified finish. It is not the longest lasting lacquer and needed to be reapplied after a few hours.

All in all I have to say these lipsticks are great for beginners especially due to the pencil shape. They are also great for the collectors/ Mommy on the go like myself.
So check them out when you get a chance at your neighborhood CVS and Harmon. Until next time Angels......

Rihanna's RiRi Woo Review

Hello Angels,

If you were like most makeup junkies you entered the standing room in the beginning of the month to pick up RiRi Woo.  I have to say this colIabo was music to my ears.  This limited edition color was sold online in the black MAC bullet case with RiRi written on the side.  It was also sold at her recent concert.  Needless to say it sold out quickly.

The color is a pinker, slightly bluer,Red than MAC's own Ruby Woo. It is a retro matte that will look great on many skin tones. Don't worry angels if you missed it, you will have more chances to add this pretty to your stash. You will even be able to pick one up as a Christmas gift for yourself or someone else. It will then be in than pretty little pink casing along with some other goodies Princess RiRi has put together. All in all a welcome addition to my stash.....may even be back up worthy.

MAC Apres Chic

Hello Angels,

I am back with my purchases from the MAC Après Chic Collection. I have to say that this is a very warm natural collection.   It is a welcome break from a lot of the in your face colors of the past.   In this picture we have Porcelain Pink and Stereo Rose Mineralized Skinfinish (From the In the Groove Collection) as well as Hot Chocolate Satin finish lipstick.

The other two boxes are Good Times (From Taste Temptations) and Impossibly Sweet (From Glamourdaze Collection) lipglasses.   They were needing a good home and I was happy to house them.   LOL.

From left to right you have Porcelain Pink, Stereo Rose, and Hot Chocoloate.

Porcelain pink is a warm pink with warm gold tones.   It a beautiful highlight for those pinks that don't look like bubble gum.  Stereo Rose is a pinky/coral with gold veining.  This is definitely for all warm toned skin tones.
Hot Chocolate is just beautiful.  It is a satin plum brown lipstick that can be made plummier or browner depending on the lipliner.  I LOVE it.  It goes on beautifully.

From left to right:
Porcelain Pink (Goldy/Pink)
Stereo Rose (Corally/Gold)
Hot Chocolate lipstick (plum brown) This is my new deeper Naomi Campbell lip. LOL

From Left to right
Good Times Lipglass: pale mauve
Impossibly Sweet : pink with multicolor pearls.

These are your normal lipglasses.   They have lots of color with a tacky finish.   I plan to wear them alone or layered over lipsticks.   This can give a whole new look to a lippie.

MAC Strength Collection Lipsticks

Hello Angels,

I would love to say that I am done with the MAC holiday collections.....I just keep on finding things to buy. Jeez I need money for the MAC Archie collection that is coming out in a few weeks. Here are the lipsticks that are a part of that collection.

From left to right:
Party Parrot- pink coral (matte finish)
Pink Pigeon- hot pink (matte finish)
Strong Woman- warm purple(matte finish)
Firm Form- warm brown/black with gold glitter (matte finish)

The first two lipsticks are repromotes which I purchased from the Iris Apfel collection. The last two are my latest purchases.

Here are the lipstick swatches from left to right:
Party Parrot
Pink Pigeon
Strong Woman
Firm Form

Pink Pigeon and Party Parrot are some of my favorite pinks. They are vibrant and the matte finish goes on smoothly without tugging at your lips.  Strong Woman is a beautiful warm purple and alternative to the cool bright purples in other collections.
Firm Form is a warm black with brown undertones that has fine gold glitter. Depending on which lipliner you use, it you can make it look browner or blacker. It was a welcome addition to my stash.

All of these lipsticks have been sold out and restocked here
. If you really like the colors, try calling around at your local counter to see if there are any stragglers. LOL

If you find them, you will love them.

MAC Glamourdaze Collection

Hi Angels,
I am back with one of a few reviews from MAC's several holiday collections. I believe there were six this year. I will be reviewing what I purchased from three of the collections. As my collection gets larger I am trying to buy what is most unique in every release.

The picture below was the invite for MAC's Glamourdaze collection. Isn't pretty? Now on to the review......

Here are my goodies from right to bottom: Superb Extra Dimension Skinfinish (a re-release from the Extra Dimension Collection), I'm the One blush, Small Vanity Blush and Outrageously Fun lipstick.

Here is a picture before they are swatched:

Here are the lovelies swatched from left to right: Superb (a smooth textured white gold skinfinish) , I'm the One (a blue pink matte blush), Small Vanity (a pinky brown matte blush) and Outrageously Fun (a purply/pink blue based cremesheen lipstick).

I was pleasantly surprised by my goodies. You are able to create a very girly and fun look with these items.

I  returned I'm the One blush because it looked like Pink Peony Blush which I already owned.  When I returned the I am the One blush, I then picked up Glamourdaze lipstick. It is also a cremesheen. It is a pretty browny/purply/pink that looks beautiful with Small Vanity blush. I even bought a back up. So that tells you how much I like it.

Swatched from top to bottom: Glamourdaze and Outrageously Fun:

These lipsticks sold out when they went online. There are still pieces of this collection lurking online at MAC and in stores. It never hurts to ask.

Till next time Angels...

MAC Heavenly Creatures Lipstick

Hi Angels!!

Lastly, I purchased Fire Sign Lipstick from MAC's Heavenly Creatures Collection.  It is a lustre finish lipstick, which means it has more moisture and shine then color.  This one in particular is quite pigmented and looks beautiful with Astral or Galaxy Rose top.  I might have to get another since it works so well with two lip glosses.

So Angels, there you have my Heavenly Creatures haul in a few doses.  Be sure to stop my your local MAC store or department store to see the collection in person.  You can also purchase the products on MACcosmetics.com
