LA GIRL GLAZED LIP PAINT

Hi Angels,

If you're our Facebook friend or one of our Instragam followers you saw us feature this product in our take on Splurge vs Steal. We're now back with a review on the LA GIRL glazed lip paints. These little beauties can also be great stocking stuffers for this time of the year.

LA GIRL is a good line with makeup artist products for drugstore prices.  Their line is definitely worth checking out.  Let's look at the lip paints we have in our collection.

The colors from left to right are Coy, Babydoll, Blushing, Bombshell and Hot Mess.

Here are our swatches in that order on MAC NW43 skin:

We also have some individualized swatches.

Coy

Babydoll

Blushing

Bombshell

Hot Mess

As you can see the LA GIRL lip paints are true to color.  They go on smoothly like a lipstick with the shine of a lipgloss.  They wear for 2 hours without eating or drinking.  At the price point of $2.99-4.00  they can be reapplied.  You will not be disappointed with the purchase.  You can purchase them at your local Rite Aid, beauty supply or online at LAGIRLcosmetics.com and ikatehouse.com.

So Angels, what do you think? Are we going to purchase one of these beauties?  Do you already have a shade you love?  Or is this a pass?  Let us know how you feel?

Until next time Angels

MAC Nasty Gal Revisited

Hi Angels,

I don't know about you all but we here are feeling the stress of Holiday shopping.  From the day after Thanksgiving we've been bombarded with circulars and emails.  As the Holidays approach, we are slowly seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

The MAC Nasty Gal collection was a welcome distraction. The collection launched on December 4th and we were not dissapointed by the lovely matte lipsticks.
Here are our swatches (nw43 skin)and pics: [from top to bottom Gunner, Runner,Stunner]

These lippies are perfect for the season and are non drying matte lipsticks.
They are smooth and true to color. The colors are a deep matte purple, matte brick and matte wine.  These three lipsticks can take you throughout this season.  The reds will keep you on trend with Marsala being the Pantone color of the year,
Here are our pics of the actual lipsticks:
Stunner

Runner

Gunner

We are in love over here. A new lipstick will help us brave those holiday sales. Although Gunner is sold out, the other lipsticks are still available on maccosmetics.com.

So what do we think Angels?  Are we in
love?  Did we buy these lippies or are they on our Holiday wish list?  Let us know if you bought them and what your thoughts were.

Until next time Angels,
Happy Haulin'

NARS vs Sonia Kashuk dupe

Hi Angels,

I hope you enjoyed your holiday.  I have to say my head is spinning from all these sales.  It's a little overwhelming. LOL. In an effort to focus I decided to try and find the HG Olivia Pope lipcolor for my skintone.  It's this berry/brown/pink that looks like your lips but better.  I went to Sephora and bought NARS' Bahama Velvet Matte lip pencil.  It's a creamy pencil that applies smoothly and in my favorite finish.

I went to Target the next day and was browsing through the Sonia Kashuk line. I  found a dupe for NARS' Bahama.  It's Sonia Kashuk's Velvety matte crayon in Mulberry.
Here are my two pencils together:

Isn't that crazy? Let's look at the swatches .

The NARS pencil is on top and the Sonia Kashuk pencil is on the bottom. There is very little difference in color and they wear the same.

The next picture is of the actual pencils.

Our last pic will be of myself wearing both pencils.
The NARS pencil is on the left and The Sonia Kashuk is on the right.  As you can see they look the same.  The NARS pencil lasts a little longer but I think that can be overlooked considering the price. The NARS pencil is $25 at sephora and department stores. The Sonia Kashuk pencil is $7.59 at Target. I will definitely be on the lookout for more colors.

So what do we think Angels? Is this not a great steal? Do you have any of these pencils?  Let us know what you think.

Until next time Angels

Viva Glam Miley

Hi Angels,

Last month MAC announced that Miley Cyrus will be there next Viva Glam spokes person.  Here is what the brand said about the partnership:

M•A•C Cosmetics is thrilled to announce the next #VIVAGLAM spokesperson: Miley Cyrus. Arriving January 22,2015. Every cent of the selling price of #VIVAGLAM goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Courtesy of USMagazine.com we are showing you the promo pics:

The color story is :

Viva Glam Lipstick ($16.00)

  • Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Hot pink (Amplified)

Viva Glam Lipglass ($15.00)

  • Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Hot pink with sparkling pearl
And now let's look at the lipstick and lipglasss:

The word around town is mixed about this selection.  People either don't like Miley being the spokesperson or are bored that it's another pink lipstick/lipglass.  I for one will decide when I swatch the lippies.  All in all the purchase goes to a great cause.

So what do you think Angels?  Are you going to be buying Viva Glam Miley?  Or will you be buying one of the other Viva Glams?  Let us know what you think and what you decide to buy.

Until next time Angels,

MAC NASTY GAL COLLECTION

Hi Angels,
I'm excited to tell you MAC's collaboration with NASTY GAL.  If you know anything about the brand then you should expect some edge and style.  The collection will be realeased online December 4th at select MAC stores and online. Take a look at this  promo pic courtesy of MAC:

Here is what MAC had to say about the collabo:
M∙A∙C partners with Nasty Gal, the style destination for risk-takers and tastemakers, in a high-intensity collection of shades as daring and dramatic as the #GIRLBOSS herself, Sophia Amoruso. Deep purple, bombshell red and rich burgundy lipsticks pair perfectly with a fiery nail lacquer. This season, style has attitude, and so do you.

Here is the color story and picture courtesy of MACcosmetics:
Lipsticks- $16 each
Stunner-red matte
Runner-burgundy matte
Gunner-dark purple matte
Nail Lacquer-$12 Flaming Rose-red creme

I am getting in line twice for these lipsticks!!!  This is the perfect kit for the fall.  Sometimes I appreciate the smaller collections more than the huge ones. I am more apt to buy more of what I need.

So what do we think Angels? Will you be stalking cyberspace with me on the release date?  Or is this a pass for you?  Tell us what's on your mind.

Until next time Angels,

October is also.....

Hi Angels,

Since we already recognized Breast Cancer Awareness month it is only fitting that we do the same for another disease.  October is also Lupus Awareness Month. Lupus turns your body against itself and causes it to attack healthy normal tissue instead of germs.  Since it can attack any organ, it is difficult to diagnose.  It is not contagious and is found in women ages 15-45.  Women of color are three times more affected.
It is not uncommon for those that suffer from the disease to have a butterfly rash on the face or rest of the body.  For this reason the purple butterfly as well as the purple ribbon are symbols for this illness.  (Courtesy of Becou.com)

We here at the Pretty Prescription recognize that this is a serious disease.  We  encourage you to research it for yourselves. The knowledge you will gain can save your life or the life of someone you love

The Sultan of Suave

Hi Angels,

It is a sad day in the fashion world.  Oscar de la Renta the Dominican "sultan of style" has passed away today due to an undisclosed illness.  Mr. de la Renta had just recently designed Amal Clooney's wedding dress.  He also showed had a line shown for this past Fashion Week.  The Balenciaga mentored and former Lanvin designer launched his line in 1965.  Unlike some other designers of the day he did not negotiate being the sole owner of his line.  A mistake he saw dear friends like Halston and many other designers make.

Mr. De la Renta dressed the likes of SJP, and former First Ladies Jacqueline Kennedy-Onasis, Nancy Reagan and Hilary Clinton.  He will forever be remembered for his great personal style and talent for dressing women.  Here are some pics of the designer and some of his fashions:

This is a picture of a dress from this past fashion week courtesy of Vanity Fair:

Last but not least here is my favorite pic of the designer with Oscar the grouch commemorating 40 years of Seame Street featured in and courtesy of Harper's Bazaar.
Those of you who have any of this genius's fashions now have a piece of fashion history.  We hope the designers at his line will continue to use his aesthetic and influence to dress women for years to come.

Until next time Angels,
Happy Haulin'
