Stila Countless Color Pigments!

Hello Angels,

I am back with a review of my last Sephora haul.  Sephora is like a candy store for a makeup addict like myself.  When you visit you almost always find a gem.  On my last visit I swatched the Stila Countless Color Pigments.  I instantly fell in love with the color combinations and pigmentation of each pressed pigment .

I made a mental note to purchase them when I returned.  While shopping online I found that they were 31% off.  I purchased all the colors they had.  Here are the shadows.

From: top to bottom and left to right:
Indie, Tie Dye, Melody
Finale, Lyric, Center Stage
Light Show, Acoustic, Groupie

Swatches all blended together by row on NW 43 skin(without primer

Indie-light pink, pink and fuchsia
Tie Dye- turquoise, blue and purple
Melody- pink, light purple and purple

Finale-orange, yellow and reddish pink
Lyric- yellow, orange and pink
Center Stage- yellow/orange, pink and sky blue

Light show-yellow/gold, blue, dark blue green
Acoustic-rust,red, brown and copper
Groupie- beige, copper and brown

The colors can be used individually or swirled together as shown.  You are able to get a lid, crease and highlight out of almost all of the shadows.  On those days when you are pressed for time that is just what the Doctor ordered.

The shadows are still available on Stila.com.and  sephora.com.  On Ulta.com. stock is limited.  All three sites have different stock.  There are ten in all.  I am going to order a color called Encore which is a pink, beige and brown mix.  This is available only on the Stila site.

If you happen to see them in store they are worth a glance and swatch.  Check them out for yourself.  Let me know how you like them.

Until next time
Happy Haulin'

J. Crew inspired necklace on SALE

Hello Angels,

Now we here at The Pretty Prescription believe in quality and authenticity of every product we use and brand we support.  But sometimes "inspired" items make a blip on our radar-- especially when the originals are sold out!
Some of you may have seen this J. Crew necklace on our Facebook or Twitter as modeled here:

Well this gorgeous tortoise piece is all sold out on JCrew.com.  But now there's hope!   Available on groopdealz as we speak, an inspired piece for the bargain price of $15.99!!

Now...  To some of you the slight difference in quality might be bothersome.  So to you, I recommend eBay to hunt down the original J. Crew bauble.  But for everyone else...

Blinged Out Watch

Hi Angels!

I love this watch by Stuhrling. It is part of the Audrey Collection, the Radiant model. I purchased it on Gilt.com for $79, while it's retail price was well over $400. It looks beautiful with most outfits. I love how the face looks like a shell, so unexpectedly beautiful.  I like to pair it with a fun bracelet, an evil eye bracelet has been my pairing of choice as of late.

Gucci Platform Pumps--SALE

Hi Angels!!

Check out these Gucci suede pumps I recently purchased at Bloomingdale's!  They are a cream/champagne color that goes well with monochromatic outfits to add a hint of unexpected color. I personally love round toe shoes because they are much more comfortable.  Surprisingly for their impressive height, the platform adequately offsets the impact.  I purchased these for $239.99, I know, I know, it's a little steep, but they were originally $520, I promise. If you are going to spend $150 for boutique 9, etc. might as well invest a little more for a wardrobe staple that will last for years to come.

Happy Shopping!!

Luxe Foundation

Hi Angels!!

I wanted to share my experience with a new foundation I recently purchased at Sephora. I was on the market for something light, due to the unbearable heat we were recently dealing with. I decided to try Guerlain's Lingerie de Peau, and I was not at all disappointed. This foundation delivers a flawless, lightweight finish that literally feels like silk as you apply it. It claims to be an invisible skin fusion foundation packed with SPF 20 to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays from the sun.  I was overall very pleased with this foundation, it offered a flawless finish that adequately covered imperfections, and lasted for hours. I have been experiencing extreme amounts of shine lately, but that was not the case with this foundation, another huge plus!!  Please note that this is a lightweight foundation, so if you are looking for more coverage this is not the product.

I know it has a hefty price point at $59 for a bottle, but if you feel like treating yourself to a luxe foundation, this is it.  It feels great as you apply it (they aren't kidding about the lingerie) and has beautiful packaging, as expected with Guerlain.

I DIE!!!! Isabel Marant studded gladiator sandals ON SALE, MUST have!

Angels,

Emergency alert, look what I found on sale at Lagarconne for $357.90.  Yeah, that's still steep (gulp), for a sale BUT I promise you if you score a pair of these (especially the black ones), they are the last gladiators you will every buy because they go with everything:  Cut off shorts, high-low skirt, maxi dress, mini skirt, boyfriend jeans..... You get my drift.  And you'll excuse me as I rush over to grab some for my closet!  Happy shopping!!!!

Dark corners smokey eyeshadow look! Pictorial/Tutorial!

Hello Angels!

I'm back with another different smokey eyeshadow and coral lip look that is very wearable during the day and can carry right into night.  It's easy to create and I've outlined the products used and steps below with lots of pics.
The Look:

I used the products pictured below.
Eyes:  MAC paint pot in groundwork, MAC pigment in Tan, MAC pro longwear eyeshadow in legendary black, MAC eyeshadow in Arena, MAC black kohl eyeliner in Feline, Benefit They're Real mascara.
Lips:  Beet lip liner (thick line), Vegas Volt lipstick

Groundwork as the base, all over the mobile lid to just above the crease

Feline pencil in the inner and outer corners of the eye, blend in to soften the effect towards middle of the eye
Legendary Black eyeshadow in the inner and outer corners of the eye over the feline pencil.  Blend well to really soften the edges of the Feline pencil towards the middle of the eye, making sure the color doesn't stray far above the eyelid crease.

Using a SMALL amount of Tan pigment (only need a crumb or two!!), apply to the center of the eyelid from lash line straight up to the brow bone at the highest point of your arch.  On the lid, blend this pigment outwards towards the dark corners.  In the brow highlight, dip your brush into Arena shadow and use this to blend blend blend the Tan pigment across the brow highlight area.

Now take a clean shadow brush and blend blend blend!!  Make sure you have no harsh color lines.  You want each of the colors to flow into each other seamlessly.
Next, add black eyeliner to the lower eyelid and smudge into the lower lash line.  Follow with black eyeliner to upper eyelid and at least two coats of mascara to upper and lower lashes.

Finito!  You are ready to serrrrrve.... Face that is!

HAPPY PAINTING!!!

Arm Candy!!!!

Hello Angels!

As the summer wears on, we want to share with you what we're wearing ON our wrists.  Two words:  ARM CANDY.  If you're not yet up on this trend, allow us at the Pretty Prescription to come to your rescue ;).
You may have been thinking less is more but with this trend more is... well, more!   There's really no wrong way to stack bracelets on your arms, with a nice statement watch, playing with texture and color.  Mix metals and materials for the ideal look.  If you're a DIYer then you're in luck because you can really play with creativity here and save lots of money.
Here are a few examples of what we're wearing and how we're wearing it:

J. Crew, Kendra Scott and Stella and Dot are among our favorite jewelry designers.
For very affordable and trendy bracelets and necklaces there are a few Etsy and online shops we love.
For example:  Gigglosophy
Another fave:  Urban Peach Boutique

And let's never forget our absolute fave for all affordable trendy things:  Target.  Yes.  Target.
With bracelets for as little a $6 a pop you'll have an awesome arm stack going in no time.
This is a fun fashion trend that really lets you express your individuality while following a trend (who knew!) so...  Happy shopping!
We'd love to see what you're wearing and how you're wearing it too!  Post pics of your arm candy and any great deals you come across in comments!
