Fashion or Favor?

Hi Angels,

I think we need to pour a drink out for our     proverbial homies.  The Fashion Bible and its Editor Anna Wintour have succumbed to the media hype that is Kimye!

(Courtesy of vogue.com)

The cover is a beautiful desecration of one of the last pieces of paper publication that did not put Kim Kardashian on the cover. Anna swore that she would never let Kim grace the cover.  I want to know what pushed her over the edge.  Is Kanye that persuasive or is this a favor to Ricardo Tisci (head of Givenchy and friend of Kanye).

There are a lot of people I would have like to have seen grace the cover.  Janelle Monae, Lupita Nyong'o, or Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice. Everyone knows that David Beckham was approached a few times but has turned it down because of Ms. Wintour snubbing Victoria.  That woman is a true fashionista.

So in an effort to increase sales for this month, we are subject to the media machine  which is Kimye. This is not US Weekly, People or Bride magazine for that matter. That is where  this cover belongs,Ms. Wintour.  This  Pretty Prescriber will be keeping her money in her pocket this month.

What do you think Angels?  Yea or Nay?

Until next time

April Makeup collaborations

Next month two makeup powerhouses will team up with some influential heavy hitters in fashion.  MAC will be collaborating with Proenza Schuler and Santigold for Smashbox. According to In Style Magazine the designers were clear about their sources of inspiration for their collections.

The Proenza Schuler duo drew from their 2010 Spring Collection.   "Like the clothes the makeup is bright but can be subtle to".  The standouts they announced from this collection are a Pro long wear eyeliner in Black Ice, a flaming pink lipstick named pink fridge and a nail polish in dark plum named Dayflower. The collection will be released on April 3rd at Maccosmetics.com

Style maven Santigold was inspired by Quetzalcoatl a feather snake that represents post apocalyptic earth.  Her standouts are an eyeshadow collage in Apocalypse Now, a coral gloss named Lava and nail art strips in Serpent Charmer.  Her collection will be released on April 1st at Smashbox.com

I am definitely going to check out these collections when they hit the stands.  So Angels, do you see something you like?  Let us know what you think and if you decide to buy something.

To Wedge or not to Wedge, Sneaker that is!

Hi Angels,

As some of you may know six months ago this Pretty Prescriber became a mother for the second time.  With each pregnancy, due to swelling and weight gain my shoe size has increased by half a size.  I just purchased some size nine cross trainers the other day.  That is a far cry from a size 7 1/2 that I wore when I got married.

In my quest to accommodate my bigger family, there have been some changes.  (Bye, bye X5 and hello Honda Pilot). No minivan Mom!  I digress. I still want to be  hot to death while chasing my toddler and walker using baby.  This leads me to the post title.

I've been seeing a good deal of fashionable celebrity moms running around town in their wedge sneakers.  I like the look and they can be worn with leggings and skirts.

Here are a few of our favorite girls below:

Miranda Kerr with Finn

Fashionistas everywhere are split on their opinions of the wedge sneaker.  Isabel Marant who credits herself for the new found interest is no longer wearing her eight hundred dollar creations pictured above.  She says and I quote, "There are two many vulgar imitations running around". I'm sorry if you heard me rolling my eyes. Really?  I doubt she created the eighties.
LOL

Everyone deserves to be fashionable. I have kids and bills so the guilt of purchasing a pair of her sneakers would kill me.  Nike, Pumas, Steve Madden ,my faves Ash and many more have cute wedge sneakers within my budget.

Aren't they gorge.  I got them for a great price in size 39=8-8 1/2.  Brand new and too small. They are looking for a new home.    Sorry that was the sound of myself and the sneakers shedding tears. They are sold out almost everywhere.

I intend to buy some others and wear them with whatever looks cute. Look out Spring!  So what do you think?  Do you have wedge sneakers?   Are you planning to buy any?   Or are you just not a fan.  Let us know what you think.

Until next time Angels

Oscar Faves 2014

Hello Angels,

So if you are like myself and millions of others, you watched the Oscars this past Sunday.  I have to say it was one of the best shows I have seen in years.  Ellen Degeneres should host every year.  Her jokes are smart, funny and not abrasive.

Before I get into the fashions, did anyone else gasp when John Travolta announced  Idina Menzel before her Oscar Perfornance?  Who is Adele Manzeem?  Me thinks I need to have one of my colleagues prescribe Mr. Saturday Night Fever some glasses. LOL

Now on to the fashion.
I cannot say anyone can be surprised at who was considered best dressed.  There has been a few women who have been on top this Awards Season. The Oscars were no exception.

Let's start with Cate Blanchett in Giorgio Armani Prive (Huffington Post)

Can you say stunning? Everything was perfect. This was on trend for the blush/nude dresses being shown during Fashion week.

Since this is prom season I did some digging and found this dress on Jovani.com

Not bad huh?
You can also borrow this David Meister dress from Rent the Runway:

Charlize Theron was on the red carpet with her boyfriend Sean Penn.  In this black Christian Dior stunner she needed no date. Here it is:

That woman can wear a dress.  And for us regular folk, Jovani.com has this beautiful black number:

Our friend Matthew McConaughey won the Oscar but his wife Camila Alves was a winner in this pink Gabriella Cadena.  This dress was a breath of fresh air on Sunday: (Entertainment Weekly)

She looked regal.  If you want to duplicate the look, check out this dress on Jovani.com:

Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde hit the red carpet on Sunday looking wonderful. Olivia was one of a few pregnant stars that attended the awards show. I loved her look the best.  Although I didn't have Valentino gowns when I was pregnant, I knew what a well fitted dress was. This picture does not do the dress justice.  The detail in the back is not shown. No duplicates for this one:

(Huffpost)

Last but definitely not least is a young lady who was killing her first awards season. I guess she was preparing for such a time as this:  Oscar award winning actress Lupita Nyong'o in Prada
(Harper's Bazaar.com)

I didn't see this color or silhouette coming.  This was totally different from all her other gowns.  This was a HIT!  She looked like a Fairytale Princess.

And for those of us that would like to wear something like this check out this lil number from Jovani.com.

It's a little more forgiving in the bust area. I can see this looking lovely on a prom goer.

So there you have it Angels.  Those were my picks for best dressed of the night.
What did you think of the night's fashion?  Do you think we missed a look that should be included?  Feel free to let us know.

Gillette Venus Embrace Sensitive

Hi Angels,

I thought long and hard about doing this post.  It isn't necessarily makeup related. Buy hey, can't be done up and not well groomed.

I have fairly sensitive skin.  Anytime I use a razor on my underarms and legs I am left with multiple nicks and burning skin.  I have had to resort to getting waxed so that I would not have that experience.

Well this past weekend I was at Target and saw a new razor in the aisle.  I decided to give it a whirl.  It's the Venus Embrace Sensitive.  Honestly I don't know what made me try it.  I can tell you I am happy I did.

Here it is:
This little baby has five blades that have a touch of aloe. You get one razor refill in each package. Here is what Gilette has to say about the razor: "With 5 blades and 8 times more glide boosters for a closer shave and less irritation*, the Venus Embrace Sensitive is dermatologist tested for sensitive skin.

The Gilette Venus Embrace Sensitive did not disappoint.  It has been a whole week and my skin is still smooth and not irritated.  I will be going back to stock up.

Has anyone else tried this razor?  If so let us know what you think.

Until next time Angels
