MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection

Hi Angels!

I wanted to follow up with you on the MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection I had notified you about, and show some swatches of the new collection.  I have also included some pictures of the play by play of my experience picking up the lastest colors.

This was the display that was setup on both sides of the store. As I got in line, I learned that the lipsticks were almost all sold out. While on line, the lipsticks that were left, Pure Zen and Love Goddess, sold out as well.   I was disappointed to say the least!

A lot of the other items were repromotes such as the lipliners, eyeliners, and the mascara so I didn't bother with swatching them.

Here is another pic that we snapped outside of the store at 7:50pm. We were being served different appetizers while waiting.   At this point I decided my game plan was to purchase my desired items and review/swatch the others later.

Here are the items I swatched:
Top Row: From left to right: Legendary Blush and The Perfect Cheek

Bottom Row (eyeshadows): How to Marry, Preferred Blond, Showgirl and Silver Screen.

The blushes were a no for me and I was underwhelmed by the eyeshadows. Thank God I called my favorite MAC artist and she set aside Deeply Adored, Love Goddess and Preferred Blond.

The five lipsticks, Scarlet Ibis, Deeply Adored, Love Goddess, Charmed I'm Sure and Pure Zen sold out when they were released at each site. By October 4th Macy's, Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom's all over were selling out their lipsticks within minutes!!

I managed to swatch all the lipsticks except Scarlet Ibis.
From left to right: Deeply Adored(dark red matte), Love Goddess(pinky-red satin), Pure Zen(warm pink frost) and Charmed I'm sure(blue-based red matte).

The lipsticks, blushes and Beauty Powder are all in black shiny cases with limited, rarely seen pics of Marilyn Monroe.
Be sure to check out whatever you can especially if you are a pale skinned beauty. This collection is made for you.
Try your local department stores and MAC.

My new fave faux fur vest!

Hello Angels! I found this sweet little deal at Ann Taylor LOFT in midtown Manhattan and just had to share! It's a super soft black faux fur vest with a graphic knit detailing on the back that makes it super unique and easy to dress up or down. It's lightweight but warm, making keeping up with this season's layering trend easy. And with the current 50% off winter sale going on at LOFT.com it's quite a steal! Happy shopping!!!

Classic Pumps

I wanted to share these shoes I am eyeing at the moment.  I have slowly gotten tired of the platform shoe trend and now have an appetite for a more feminine and sophisticated look.  I saw these shoes, called Romelia, at Aldo, and think they are just perfect!  They are only $90, but look like Christian Louboutin's I have been seeing everywhere.  These are classic pumps to add to your collection.  They come in suede or pony hair, so although they have a classic overall design, they still have a little funk to them!  Happy Shopping!

Studded Gloves

While at H&M, I also spotted these leather gloves.  I have been into the studded trend, but did not think it was worthwhile to spend $100+ on leather gloves with studs.  H&M to the rescue!!  These gloves are genuine leather, and only going for $34.95- now that is worth it!  I didn't even believe these were real leather until I found the label stating they are, in fact leather, see below :) These also make a great gift for a trendsetter.  Happy Shopping!!

Embellished Jackets!

I recently stopped by H&M to see if they had any cute New Year's Eve looks- instead of looking at dresses, I was completely distracted by this embellished jacket. I love the pattern, and the mixture of elements, metallics and pearls.  This is great with jeans, leggings, or a simple fitted short dress to add an instant wow factor.  Love it!

Happy Shopping!

Sparkle for the Holidays

I spotted these shoes on a recent walk in to Zara, and I think these would be the perfect shoes to wear to a holiday party or New Year's Eve for that extra sparkle.  You can choose between black or beige, depending on your preference and what you plan to wear them with.  The best part is, they are under $100!  I love the little peep toe as well, which can be carried into the Spring.

One for you and three for me

So guess who went shopping today? That would be moi! I got most of my Christmas list done and even squeezed in some personal shopping. I love Banana Republic and Gap. I've been stalking some of their jewelry, jeans, and blazers. All of these items were forty percent off. The sale ends at midnight. Happy shopping.

Score

I was out Christmas shopping today and came across these fabulous dresses from H&M. The dresses are stretchy, have a cute zipper in the back and only cost ten dollars. What a score!

Is this for real?

As you know, I love my accessories.  You can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon this website, offering beautiful statement jewelry pieces at affordable prices.  I initially thought it may be too good to be true, but I was mistaken.  BaubleBar has some gorgeous pieces that would instantly upgrade an outfit, mostly for under $100.  Check it out here.  I especially like their Disco Cone Cuff, so adorable and stackable!  Happy shopping!

This is clutch

I have to admit that I simply love the clutches that Bottega Veneta and Alexander McQueen have designed this year, but at over $1,000 a pop, I couldn't justify such a splurge.

Alexander McQueen

Bottega Veneta

Well, I turned that frown upside down when I went into Zara and found a similar clutch, for one tenth of the price!  I think it would make the perfect accessory to a simple black dress.  No need for too much jewelry, this clutch is ornate enough to hold it's own weight.

Monogram Jewelry

I am so obsessed with monogram right now, whether it is a necklace or a bracelet, I love adding a personal touch to really make something my own.  I recently purchased this amazing sterling silver monogram necklace and have not taken it off since.  I wasn't ready to commit to gold, so I went with the silver to get my feet wet, and I have no regrets.  I got mine at a fabulous jewelry store, Massoyan Jewelers, and recommend them without reservation.  They can make anything your heart desires!  This also makes a great holiday gift!  This necklace retails for under $200, a much more affordable option than what we have been seeing our favorite celebs rocking.  Just keep in mind that the center letter will be your last name.  Happy monogramming!!

MAC StyleSeeker Eyeshadow - Marche' aux puces

Hello Angels!

I have one more update for the eye shadows in the StyleSeeker Collection by MAC.  This duo contains a matte chocolate brown color and a gorgeous orange gold with shimmer.   It is unlike my other colors in my collection.

All in all, this collection was quite the welcome surprise to my face but not to my wallet.  LOL.  Some of these items are still available on online.  If you like a particular item I suggest you get to ordering ASAP!

MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection

Hi Angels,

I received an invite to preview the new MAC Marilyn Monroe collection. I took my business partner to the festivities on September 27th. We reserved spots for the 7:30 time slot. There were to be drinks and appetizers served. As guests, we would be able to purchase and get a first look at the collection. The collection was then released everywhere else on October 4th.

MAC StyleSeeker Collection

Hello Angels!

I must admit, I did some damage with MAC's last collection!  It featured an array of warm corals to brick colors, which are right up my alley.   Let's take a look at what I hauled.:

We will begin with the blushes- there were three blushes named Worldly Wealth, Supercontinental and Hidden treasure. I purchased the last two. I left Worldly Wealth behind because it resembled Format blush from the permanent line.

Supercontinental is a warm peach with a beautiful shimmer Hidden Treasure is a lovely burnt red color with a wonderful sheen.   They were both a welcome addition to my collection.

From left to right Supercontinental and Hidden Treasure. They are both very pigmented and wear beautifully:

Next up are the lipsticks from this collection.   From left to right we have Fashion Nomad, Delectable and Eden Rouge. They are a matte Red-orange, a matte pale peach and a matte blood red.   I wore them with MAC Auburn , Chicory and Vino lip pencils, respectfully.   I wanted the pencils to compliment the lipstick and not change the color.

From top to bottom Fashion Nomad, Delectable and Eden Rouge:

Now on to the lip glosses!  I purchased Restless and Eclectic Edge.   (from left to right below)
Restless is a rust color with gold shimmer.   It can be worn alone or over a similar lipstick.   Ecletic Edge is an opaque coral with a gold shimmer.  This definitely can be worn alone or over colors like Fashion Nomad.

And last but by no means least are the eye shadows from this collection.  Along with my other purchases I also hauled two eye shadow duos.

Below is On The Hunt. The top color is a shimmery burnt red. the bottom color is a pinky gold with gold shimmer. They have great color payoff and went on smoothly.

MAC By Request- Eye Shadows

Hello Angels!

I am back with my review of the MAC BY Request Shadows. This collection was voted by the customers on Facebook and only released online.   The eyeshadows that won the votes were (from left to right) Jete, Moth Brown and Guacamole.   Jete is a veluxe pearl while Moth Brown and guacamole are Frosts.

They swatch beautifully and are true to the color in the pan. Jete can serve as a wonderful highlight while Moth brown and Guacamole are wonderful on the lid.  Although there were loads of other colors for Mac to re-release, these do not disappoint. I am quite satisfied with my purchase.   Jete and Guacamole are still available online MAC

MAC By Request

Hello Angels,

After MAC asked their customers to vote for three lipsticks, three lipglasses and three eyeshadows,  I only purchased the lipsticks and will wait for the release date to get the eyeshadows.

The lipsticks picked were Moxie, Rocker and Candy Yum Yum, as pictured.   Moxie is a beautiful red-pink matte favored by the like of Dita Von Teese.   Rocker is a burgundy red with fine gold glitter.   It is also a matte. And last but not least is Candy Yum Yum a bright blue pink that made Kelly Osbourne cry when it was no longer available.  All three are stunners and must haves in my opinion.

The lipglasses that were released were Flash of Flesh, Bait and Cult of Cherry.   If you had these in the past and loved them, I suggest you hop on your computer and give them a home.
I will review the eyeshadows after I purchase them on August 13th.

Candy Yum Yum Conspiracy

Hello Angels!!

On August 5th after tons of votes online
MAC released the BY REQUEST Collection that is available online only. One of the lipsticks that was voted for was Candy Yum Yum. This color was previously released with the Quite Cute collection.   It sold out that time and right now it is sold out as well.

Well, I ordered one from this collection and I have to say it is different from my first one. The formula is smoother than before and it is not as bright.

The old one is  on the left, new one is on the right:

This may be in an effort to make this in your face color more wearable for everyone.   I say BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to that.   What made Candy Yum Yum to die for was the electric neon pepto bismol color and texture.    Does that make this a no buy?   No, it is still a unique color but I prefer my old Candy Yum Yum.
