Time Magazine's most influential person 2014

Hi Angels,

I am sure you know what we will be speaking about today.  As per the title, Time Magazine has chosen their most influential person.  This year it is:
(Time.com)

So Angels, Beyoncé is the most influential person of 2014. Well first let me say Congratulations.  I would have expected more clothing on her considering the Pope's name is next to her arm. We here at the Pretty Prescription are not haters.  Hmmm, I like Beyoncé' and all but really?  Not a Nobel prize winner, nor a scientist researching a cure for AIDS.  I understand her recent  album release changed the landscape of music.  I don't believe her role in pop culture supercedes that of a President Barack Obama or the Pope.

I personally don't consult the book of Beyoncé to navigate through my personal life. Do Trust and believe I don't wear a Halo when I tell you to go to the left. I do however try to wake up flawless!  Lol.

So Angels how so we feel about the cover?  Have you read the article?  Are you going to buy the magazine?  Let us know what you think.

Until next time

People's Most Beautiful 2014

Hi Angels,

Look at what popped up in my inbox today!  Or should I say guess who is People magazine's most beautiful person of 2014?  Well why don't I just show you the cover?
(Courtesy of People.com)

That's right our favorite Mexi-Kenyan Lupita Nyong'o is going to have one heck of a cinco de Mayo.  The Oscar and Golden Globe winner says that her being flattered is not a strong enough term.  The fashion muse and new Lancome ambassador tops the list of stars that includes veterans like Julia Roberts, Halle Berry and last year's Most Beautiful Person Gwyneth Paltrow.

I for one am going to pick up this issue. Is anyone else?  Do you agree with People's choice?  Let us know what you think?

Until next time Angels,

MAC Playland and By Request Review

Hi Angels,

A little while back, we told you about the new MAC releases from the Playland and By Request collection.   I am back with a quick review of my purchases.  From the By Request Collection I ordered Hoop lipstick, Hoop lipglass and Butterscotch Eyeshadow.  I am quite happy with this purchase.  I did expect Hoop to be a softer pink as opposed to a watermelon pink.  It is still a pretty color so it is welcome in my collection.  Here is my swatch on NW 43 skin: (lipstick followed by lipglass)
In tubes:

Butterscotch eyeshadow lived up to the hype.  It is an opaque cream color with yellow undertones.  This is especially perfect for those with golden undertones and dark skin.  I can use it as a lid color as well as a highlight.  So this was a win win!  Here's my  swatch:
In the pot:

I purchased Playland lipstick and Brightside lipglass from the Playland collection. Angels, I have to say I had higher hopes for this pair.  I was expecting more color.  It has more of a glaze with a hint of color.  It looks opaque in the tube but is a golden glaze when applied.  I think MAC can step it up and come out with some opaque funky colors.  That's just my suggestion.  Here's my pic:
Here's a swatch: lipstick(left), lipglass(right)

All in all it was still a good purchase if you don't have these colors in your arsenal.  MAC products almost always perform so you very rarely disappointed.

So Angels, did we purchase anything from these collections?  Are we eyeing something?  If you are, let us know.

Until next time Angels,

Oh no you better don't

Hi Angels,

If you are familiar with one of my guilty pleasures, then you know this phrase.  It from Rupaul's drag race.   I live for this show.  These men serve face for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Last week RuPaul had the contestants film commercials.  For what, you ask? Why for his makeup collection from Colorevolution.  It is called the RuPaul Glamazon Limited Edition Sets. He owns 51percent of the company.

Here is the promo pic : [pictures courtesy of Colorevolution.com

In the words of RuPaul, "ooh chile".  He looks flawless as always. The line consists of mineral makeup.  This is a win- win for those of us looking for potent colors but have skin issues.

Here is what is contained in the gift set:
Kit Includes:

• Water Proof Eye Pencil - Dark Chocolate
• Blush - Dreamgirl
• Eyeshadow - Sunny Side Up
• Eyeshadow - Blue Bayou
• Lipgloss - Diva
• Mascara - Ultra Black
• Liquid Liner - Black Noir

All of this is yours for the low price of fifty dollars.  That's more than reasonable  for all of that product!  I figure if the supermodel of the world is wearing it then so can I.

So Angels are you interested in buying the lipstick that will have you lip synching for your life?  Now Sissy that walk to Colorevolution.com to order.  Let us know what you think.

Until next time Angels

Lancome And Lupita

Hi Angels,

I don't even know where to start with this post.  I am so happy I could cry!  Okay let me compose myself.  As the title of the post says Lupita Nyong'o is going to be a new face at Lancome.  But wait my Angels not just any old spokesmodel job, Lupita is the first celebrity ambassadress of color.  This position was held by Julia Roberts and Penelope Cruz.  Here is her press pic: (courtesy of US magazine)

Let me tell you why this hits so close to home.  Three of your Pretty Prescribers are L'OREAL babies.  Our Dad worked for the company for 35 years.  So this Company has had a great deal to do with helping us achieve our goals.  It also helped mold and foster our love for cosmetics and hair care.  So products by  Maybelline, Redken, Giorgio Armani cosmetics, YSL, L'OREAL and Lancome were always around.

Even though we were so invested in this company it was a long time before we were able to use any of their foundations and concealers.  It was even longer before a woman of color became their spokesmodel.  That model was Dominican model Arlenis Sosa.  Having been born of parents from Hispaniola (Domican Republic and Haiti) I felt acknowledged in some small way. And now with just one of their foundations having over thirty colors, others can be part of the line that brought us the Iconic Juicy tubes.

So Angels how do you feel about Lupita's new Lancome role?  Are you a Lancome user?  Let us know what your favorite product is.  Hope to hear from you.

Until next time

MAC by request 2014

Hi Angels.

You may remember last July, MAC asked faithful Facebook Friends  to vote for their favorite Retro lipsticks, lipglasses and eyeshadows. Well the votes are in!  Here are your top 3. (In my Ryan Seacrest voice).  They are all available as of yesterday on maccosmetics.com

Drum rolls please!
1. Lipstick-Pink Poodle
Here's a picture of the lipsticks (All pics courtesy of MAC)

You can also get its matching lipglass.

They are described as a Vivid Fuschia Pink.  I've heard a great deal about this lipstick and honestly would buy it if I didn't already have so many pinks.

The second runner up is Hoop:
It is a midtonal rosey-pink.  I am honestly tempted by this one.  I will not put it in my cart! I won't! LOL I lied!

This is the lipgloss:
Sigh, I really like it.

The last lipstick is a bright pink red named Glam.  Here she is:

Here is her lipglass:
There are also three eyeshadows that were chosen by MAC fans.  Here are the top three:

1. Fiction-muted green shimmer

2. Diesel-cool gray frost

3. Butterscotch-matte warm beige

All of these are worth a purchase if you don't have similar colors. I am purchasing  Butterscotch.  This will be a great highlight and lid color  for all those beautiful neutrals we all have in our stashes.

So what do you think Angels?  Have you already ordered or is this a pass?  Let us know what you think.

Until next time

InStyle can be YourStyle

Hi Angels,

I am back to show you another magazine cover.  And unlike that other one, I don't mind the model that much. It's Jennifer Lopez on the cover of April Instyle magazine.  Some may argue she is the Kim Kardashian of the nineties.  She was married three times, always in the news, dressed provocatively and reportedly has a sex tape.  The latter we will never see because of the gag order on her first husband Ojani Noa.  Oh yes hunny, we know our gossip!  LOL

Back to the looks.  There are two beautiful covers for this issue: ( courtesy of InStyle)

This look says I am ready for summer with a copper eyeshadow and coral lip.  You can use MAC's so chaud lipstick as well as mulch or amber lights (depending on your skin tone) eyeshadow to achieve this look.

Here is the second look:

Nothing says sexy like a red lip.  This red lipstick is Racecar Red by Presciptives. You can find it at any Precriptives counter and Prescriptives.com. Miss Jenny from da block had perfected the glowy almost no makeup look.  Her skin is radiant, and there is nothing else competing with the bold lips.

What do we think Angels?  Is this cover a hit or a miss?  Will you be picking up these lipsticks or do you already have them?  Let us know what you think.

Until next time Angels
